College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Freshman Scholarship Application


College of Agriculture and Life Sciences freshmen scholarships are intended for new incoming first year (freshman) students entering Iowa State next fall. You are still considered for freshmen scholarships if you earned college credits during high school or the summer immediately following high school graduation.

Scholarships are awarded based on criteria of each scholarship, plus academic achievement (as determined by RAI score) and leadership.

Students selected for a scholarship must accept admission in a major in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and enroll in 12 or more credits to receive the scholarship funding.

Priority application Period: September 1 through December 1.

Applications may be received after December 1.  Applications received between December 1 and May 1 will be considered for a limited number of scholarships as supplies last.


Be sure to use proper capitalization (not ALL CAPS, not all lowercase). For example: Mary Smith, 123 Main Street, Hometown, IA 12345. Please do not use nicknames. Proofread before submitting. Applications with errors in ID numbers cannot be reviewed. Once you submit the application, it will be gone from your computer and you will not be able to save or make changes.

Activities and Leadership Information
List participation in high school and community organizations, years active, and leadership roles. (Scouts, 4-H, FFA, etc.) List each organization or activity only once, indicating your highest level of participation. Limit your answer to the six you feel are most important.
Please describe your career goal or what you would like to be doing 5 years after college graduation. (Limit your response to 100 words). Be specific.

For Need-Based Scholarships

We will access your financial aid information from the Office of Financial Aid. Be sure to file FAFSA by the priority deadline of December 1 to be considered for financial need-based scholarships.
