The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences provides financial travel support for graduate students that advance student learning, career preparation and professional development.
Students must be enrolled in an ISU graduate degree program and in CALS at the time of the travel.
Students must be in good academic standing at the time of travel (eg not on academic probation).
PhD students who have successfully completed their preliminary exam are eligible for a maximum of $1000 per academic year (August – July). PhD students who have not completed their preliminary exam, and Master’s students are eligible for a maximum of $500 per academic year (August – July).
Approved travel events/meetings include: presenting author at a professional meeting; attendance at professional development workshop, or educational training; or visit to a collaborating institution, government agency or industry partner. Other types of travel may be considered if well justified.
Domestic and international travel are eligible.
Allowable expenses include: registration, poster printing, presentation materials costs, travel and housing, and meals (following ISU per diem).
Students must have applied for a Professional Development Grant (PAG)
Applications must be submitted a minimum of 30 days prior to travel. Applications will be accepted throughout the year, using the CALS Graduate Student Travel Scholarship Application form.

Applications are reviewed and approved by the CALS Graduate Education Advisory Committee.
Funds are reimbursements made after the travel is completed, and require original itemized receipts.
Submit receipts via WorkDay within 30 days of returning from the conference.
